The number one littered object: Cigarette Butts
Be environmentally responsible:
- Properly dispose your cigarette butts in an astray.
- Field strip your cigarette butts-cigarette filters will NOT decompose!
- Use a pocket ashtray when away from community ashtrays or receptacles.
- NEVER toss a cigarette butt out the car window. It takes 1-5 years for a cigarette butt to breakdown, causing clogged waste water systems.
Cigarette littering can result in fines of $1,000 and more!

Last year Keep Evansville Beautiful had over 1500 people remove 170,000 pounds of litter from our community without cost to the taxpayer!

ACTIVITIES RANGE FROM REMOVING LITTER, BEAUTIFYING A PARK, RENOVATING/BUILDING A PLAYGROUND, COLLECTING CLOTHES FOR REUSE, ORGANIZING A RECYCLING OR GRAFFITI REMOVAL PROGRAM, OR JOINING A WATERWAY CLEANUP. 10-minute blitz clean
- Grab two to 10 friends
- Give each person a plastics bag, saved for reuse from a trip to the store
- Provide each person with a pair of gloves or litter grabbers
